Open Question: How can I get rid of distortion on my VHS to DVD copy?

I just got a brand new Samsung DVD-VR330 DVD/VCR Recorder, and I tested it out today by transferring some old recorded shows to DVD. But the problem is, the very top of the video curves to the left, like a fun house mirror or something. The VHS tape itself doesn't do it, although it is an old tape. Could there be a problem with my settings or connections?

Open Question: DVD reading Problem ??

Friends, when i have re-installed winxp media center few days back , i suddenly faced a new problem, my dvd drive cannot read the dvd discs earlier i have created on my own system. but other cd dvd discs are normally readable.I then reinstalled my os thinking there is some problem in my os but problem not solved. I was using nero burning rom 6, samsung dual layer dvd writer, os - windows xp media center. Is my dvd writer damaged ? or there is some problem in my operating system. Pls help me if some1 have a suitable solution.
