Open Question: What phone company provides service for the Samsung SGH D820?
My wife and I have the older Free & Clear America with PCS Vision service from Sprint. I want to upgrade my phone.
Our plan includes the standard Sprint PCS Vision service, but I've been told that the data networks have changed a bit. There is a possibility that I will not be able to browse the web under our existing plan with a new phone. I don't know if that's true or if the salesperson is trying to boost their sales by selling us a newer, and comparitiviely outrageously expensive, plan.
Since the old plans (with all carriers) are a LOT cheaper than the new plans, we don't want to convert our current plan to one of the new plans.
My current plan also includes the no roaming charges (ever) etc.
I've done some more homework and discovered that the Power Vision-capable phones switch to PCS Vision when Power Vision isn't available in a particular area. That tells me that the Power Vision phones are perfectly able to "talk" to the PCS Vision network. However Sprint configures these phones so that you can't "force" it to use PCS Vision. That means you have to use the Power Vision network if it's available. It would be easy for them to allow the phone to use PCS Vision exclusively, but it doesn't make them more money so they don't do it.
