Review: Samsung SPH-M510 multimedia clamshell

Samsung sigue presentando más modelos de su gama de televisores LCD Bordeaux, aunque en esta ocasión no son de alto contraste como los otros que vimos.

Con un tamaño de 19 pulgadas y un ratio de contraste de 300:1, su resolución máxima es de 1440 x 900 píxeles. La verdad es que con esas características más parece un monitor para ordenador que un televisor.

Entradas HDMI, S-Image y RGB, junto a la tecnología DNIE de Samsung que mejora la calidad de las imágenes, completan el pack. Su precio es de 400 dólares y por ahora se vende en Japón.

Samsung's YP-U3 just made an appearance in France where Generation MP3 pulled an exclusive first look at the nostalgic YEPP audio stick. While confirming the specs we've already seen, GMP3 tells us that the U3 will be set free in Europe this June with prices topping out at €129/$174 for what figures to be the 4GB player. But it's not like we're saving up or anything.

Samsung Develops 8Gig microSD Card

My biggest complaint about storing files on my mobile was that I never had enough space for my kids’ pictures, videos, and my music collection. I was pleasantly surprised when I read about Samsung’s new microSD card that could store 8 gigs worth of files. Samsung has said that their new memory card is capable of storing 2,000 mp3’s, 4,000 photos or about 5 DVD quality movies. This should be enough space for the average mobile user that likes to store files on his mobile. Now I just have to wait for it to hit the stores.

Of course my next thought was: “I wonder how long before they make an 80Gig version?” Greedy I know.

Samsung updated its product portfolio with the release of SyncMaster 255UW LCD monitor. This 22-inch widescreen display offers an integrated 2.0 megapixel webcam module which could stand from the crowd since most monitors with webcam only has 1.3MP sensor. Other features include a resolution of 1680 x 1050, an aspect ratio of 16:10, a dual-array microphone and built-in speakers on each side.

Walt Mossberg didn't pull any punches when he reviewed the first Samsung UMPC, calling the out the Q1 for its lack of a keyboard, low screen resolution, short battery life, and high price. Well, Samsung apparently took those criticisms to heart, because ol' Unkie Walt says that the Q1 Ultra is "a giant improvement" and shows that "Samsung is serious about this." Mossberg also says that while the split thumbpad keyboard takes some getting used to, it's perfectly usable, although you won't be cranking out any Word docs on it. Battery life, at three hours, still doesn't impress Walt, and price is still an issue, but overall, he says the Q1 Ultra is a good choice for students, frequent travelers, and other people who don't do a lot of document creation but still want to take notes and write email on the go. That's a huge endorsement for the UMPC platform if you ask us, but we'll have to see what consumers think this time around.

When we spotted the Ben’s Bargains post that said that that the Samsung DVD-L25 Portable DVD Player was available at B & H photo for $24.99, we thought that wow that must be a steal. Then we took a look at its specs. Ok, so it has a 2.5 inch display, we’re used to an ipod with video and it can totally deal with that for $25 bucks, and its compatibility with MP3, WMA and JPEG files sounded good too. Or so we thought… it turns out that the DVD-L25 only plays Mini-DVD and Mini-CD discs. Which basically means that the only content you’ll be able to play on this thing is content you record on to mini-discs using your PC. Which begs the question, why did they even bother manufacturing this device? We suppose that this was Samsung’s way of making it as small as p

Ik kijk bijna nooit meer TV. Af en toe een journaal of een documentaire. Verder is de kijkkast aan mij niet meer besteed. Nooit geweest trouwens. Ik kan me niet herinneren dat ik ooit voor de TV ben neergezegen om vervolgens het aanbod over me heen te laten komen, terwijl mijn kaken een zak chips vermaalden. Ik ben altijd een selectieve kijker geweest.

Nu heeft mijn zoon mij ingewijd in het downloaden van films. Als ik mijzelf passief wil vermaken kan ik dat voortaan in mijn huisbioscoopje doen. Want als ik film kijk, moet het wel op groot scherm en met goed geluid.

Mijn afkeer van TV heeft tot gevolg dat het groeiende aantal bekende Nederlanders aan mij voorbij gaat. Vroeger had je Mies, Rudi, Willem O’ dat kon ik nog wel onthouden. Tegenwoordig, nu al die zenders menen dat wij de klok rond bediend moeten worden, is de stoet mensen die in de supermarkt met het stempel “bekend van TV” loopt, eindeloos.

Het gaat volgens mij nog verder. Als je vroeger op televisie kwam dan was je iemand. Dan had je de wereld iets mee te delen. Tegenwoordig ben je een loser als je niet tenminste één keer aan een spelletjesprogramma hebt meegedaan, jezelf niet tenminste één keer heb laten afzeiken door een opgeblazen jury of een keer als getuige bent opgetreden in een wildwest item van SBS.

Zo kon het dus gebeuren dat ik onderstaande advertentie zag en moest bekennen dat ik hem echt niet kende. Ik zal hem eens bellen.

Samsung YV-150 Voice YEPP voice recorder

Samsung Korea has introduced an interesting new device that takes voice recorders to a whole new level. Known as the YV-150 Voice YEPP, the device allows you to record voice at standard quality sound for a maximum of 66 hours. If you want higher fidelity, you can record in SHQ mode for a maximum of 16 hours. The device also comes with integrated text to speech capabilities which means you’ll be able to load a text file into the device and have it recite the text back to you. The device supports Chinese, English, and Japanese languages. Finally, the YV-150 includes an FM tuner and an integrated digital music player capable of playing back MP3 and WMA files.
